Gelati Sky

Designed by Truly Deeply | Country: Australia

“This project was to re-brand Gelati Sky, a boutique, premium gelati range. The story of Gelati Sky had such strong personality. It was based around Gelati Sky founder Paul Scalisi memories of growing up in Rome, eating gelati - ‘a world where every moment seemed frozen in an amazing sensory assault and every cloud in the sky made you feel it was about to rain gelato’. We were looking for something that was strikingly unique, represented his story and would create conversation.

The communication platform of ‘it’s what dreams taste like’ was derived out of the brand strategy definition for Gelati Sky conducted by Brand DNA. The goal was to express these feelings through the package and the tastes through the flavors. The concept that we came up with was born out of these ideas. We combined the imagery of Italy with objects that looked like the flavor to create a unique, organic and scrumptious shape for each flavor. The packaging looks like it is part of memories and dreams from Italy.

Gelati Sky started as a boutique Gelati range servicing restaurants and specialist food shops. The packaging was the strongest step to building a brand consumer could connect with. As small ultra premium brand, the package needed to take on a more delicate personality than the bigger, more established companies. The package needed to not only reflect the personality and story but also to look different while still maintaining premium feel. The taste of the Gelati is simply amazing and we knew that if we developed a rich, beautiful label, one that would get buyers and customers excited it would be very successful.”

The concept behind Tokyo's 100% Chocolate Cafe is to put your senses in the middle of a chocolate kitchen. They live up to their name with over 56 types of different chocolates, even cheese and black pepper chocolates. They also serve chocolate drinks, chocolate pastries, chocolate ice cream, and even chocolate sandwiches. Their packaging is pretty neat too!

Family First

Changing the world one breakfast at a time.

Traidcraft commissioned Family (and friends) to create designs for their newly developed ‘GeoMuesli’ range, the first truly fairtrade muesli in the UKThe range will be launched at the world’s most important trade show for the food industry, the ANUGA trade show (10th-14th October)

Uniquely, Traidcraft's GeoMuesli range is made from a global mix of fairly traded ingredients, sourced from seven countries and across three continents. No other cereal brand can boast this level of fair trade in its product.

The design unfolds the story in a graphic way: featuring silhouetted illustrations of real growers and workers across the globe – the reverse of the pack tells of their personal success and the benefits of buying a fairly traded product.

It is packaged in sustainably sourced recyclable boxing with a bag made of Super-ECO film – completely biodegradable within 18 months.

Alex Durbridge, creative director at Family and friends says of the range “the challenge was to avoid being too worthy - to get the right balance shelf impact and naturalness”.

Traidcraft's unique structure - a trading company and a development charity working together - gives them a distinctive perspective on how trade can be made to work for the poor. It also gives them opportunities to influence opinion and behaviour in the charitable, business and public sectors.

The new range has three flavours - Mixed Berry, Fruit & Nut, and Exotic Fruit. All three recipes have a base of British oats and wheat cereals  -often local farmers are just as susceptible to the dangers of price capping, forcing bankruptcy and sale.
